Final project meeting of the Structure, Culture and Agency Group

Thirteen members from the Structure, Culture and Agency research group came together for the final project face to face meeting, at Montfleur, Stellenbosch, from 30 May - 1 June 2016.This is not our last activity together, but rather, the last 'face to face' meeting. For me as the project leader, this is a little bit of a sad moment, as I feel quite close to people in the project, which is now in its sixth year!

The continuing activity that we are engaging in as a group, is a research report for the Council for Higher Education (CHE), on Professional Learning in Higher Education in South Africa. We shared our draft report sections with Denyse Webbstock from the CHE yesterday, which was a great experience. It is not often one has the opportunity to engage with someone from the official organizations that one would like, to read the final recommendations. It was an additional privilege in that Denyse used to be involved in academic development, and understands the issues we have been researching. Our project culminates with several exciting publications: three chapters in a book, Theorising Learning to Teach (Routledge/SRHE, due out in November 2016, eds B. Leibowitz, V. Bozalek and P. Kahn) and five chapters in a special issue of the South African Journal of Higher Education (SAJHE), ends B. Leibowitz, C. Ndebele and J. Vorster, due out in late 2016.
