Educational development through the discipline collective: A study of academic workgroups

Coming to the International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED) in Cape Town in November 2016 are presentations and discussions from an international research project
The flow of new knowledge practices: An inquiry into teaching, learning and curriculum dynamics in academic workgroups”. This study departs from the tradition in education research that favours an individualised and cognitive focus on professional development, and brings attention to the disciplinary collective as the site for researching change. The study aims to bring fresh theoretical perspectives to this field through social, cultural and material approaches to teaching and learning change, extending educational development and its capacity for ethical action to the institutional arrangements and agencies of the university meso-level.
